Here are some travel reminders:
1. Travellers flying from Canada to the U.S. are now allowed carry on baggage (size of a small gym bag) with the same previous restrictions. Check out http://www.catsa.ca/ for the latest in travel restrictions/information.
2. Effective March 1, 2010, Canadian travellers going to Mexico are now required to have a passport. A photo ID and birth certificate will no longer suffice.
3. The new HST (Harmonized Sales Tax) comes into effect on July 1, 2010. While the HST applies to goods and services purchased on or after this date, the HST also applies to prepayments starting on May 1, 2010 for goods and services that will be provided on or after July 1. So, if you are flexible in your travel dates, you should consider departing before July 1.
